  • Crochet hook:  H-8 5 mm hook size
  • Yarn: worsted weight yarn in white and pink
  • Copy of the bow graph
  • Yarn needle for weaving the yarn tails in

Pattern notes

  • Make color changes indicated by the graph or the written instructions.
  • Each square on the graph represents a single crochet stitch.
  • Read the graph from right to left ← on odd-numbered rows and left to right → on even-numbered rows.
  • ← you are working on the “right side” on odd-numbered rows.
  • → you are working on the “wrong” side” on even-numbered rows.
  • Carry the unused yarn color.

Color changes

  • To change colors, work the last yarn over of a stitch with the new color. This sets up your yarn for the next stitch in the new color.
  • Carry unused colors across the row by laying them over the stitches you’re working into, so you can pick them up as needed. This is known as tapestry crochet!

  • With white yarn, chain 21, then single crochet into the 2nd ch from the hook and in each remaining chain.

Adding a border

To add a border, make 2 single crochet stitches in the side of each square along the sides, and in each corner make (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc).
