Free Crochet Baby Dress Pattern

Although this crochet pattern might look complicated, it’s actually a fairly easy pattern that uses simple stitches. You work it in the round, starting from the top of the dress and going down.

It’s a quick project, and I was able to make the 0-3 months newborn size in an afternoon. If you enjoy crochet projects that come together fast, this is one of the best crochet dress patterns to try!

Candy Corn Witch Crochet Baby Dress Pattern Information

This sweet little dress is ideal as a Halloween DIY outfit for baby’s first Halloween or as a handmade gift for a baby shower. It’s one of my favorite free crochet baby dress patterns because it’s both festive and versatile.

Crochet Project Materials Needed

• Crochet hook sizes:
  I-9 5.5 mm hook (dress) or size needed for gauge
  H-8 5 mm (hat) or size needed for gauge
• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn #4 in white, orange, yellow, and black.
  I do not have the exact yardage needed. However, my 0-3 months baby dress and hat together weigh 248 grams/8.8 ounces. 
• Yarn needle: Use this to weave in your ends.
• Scissors: Use scissors to fasten off your yarn.
• Stitch marker(s): Optional. Use these to help keep track of your stitches.

Crochet Pattern Notes

• Use an I-9 5.5 mm crochet hook for the dress.
• Use an H-8 5 mm crochet hook for the hat.
• The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as your first stitch. 
• Rounds 1-9 of the dress are the same for the 0-3 and 3-6 months sizes.
• Rounds 1-17 of the hat are the same for all sizes.
• Join each round with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round. 
• Repeat instructions between the asterisks (*) for the rest of the round.
• You are crocheting in the round from the top of the dress and hat down.
• The pattern is written in US terms.
