Materials for the Crochet Turkey Granny Square Pattern
- Hook size: H-8 5 mm crochet hook or mm hook size needed for gauge
- Type of yarn weight: Worsted weight yarn/medium weight yarn #4. You will need brown, red, orange, yellow, black, and white yarn.

- DC = double crochet stitch
- SC = single crochet stitch
- sc2tog = single crochet decrease
- sc3tog = single crochet 3 stitches together
- HDC = half double crochet stitch
- ch/chs = chain stitch/chain stitches
- st/sts = stitch, stitches
- SL ST = slip stitch
- flo = front loops only
- blo = back loops only
Granny Square Crochet Pattern Notes
- The granny square pattern is written in US terms.
- You will make the granny square first and then add the turkey parts.
- The stitch counts are listed at the end of every row/round.
- The granny square is made with the circle to square technique.
- Join each round with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round.
- Repeat instructions between the asterisks (*) for the rest of the round.
- The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

If you find the magic ring/circle tricky, try this easier method for round 1: Chain 3, make 11 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, join (11 stitches)

You will make the granny square first and then add the turkey parts.
Crochet Turkey Granny Square
Brown yarn
Rnd 1: Magic circle, 11 DC, join to first DC (11 stitches)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, make 2 DC in each st, join (22 stitches)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, *2 DC, DC in the next stitch*, join (33 stitches)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, *2 DC, DC in the next 2 sts*, join with white yarn (44 stitches)
White yarn
Rnd 5: Ch 2, *(2 DC, ch-2, 2 DC), DC in the next 10 sts*, join
Rnds 6-8: Ch 2, DC in each st and (2 DC, ch-2, 2 DC) in each ch-2 corner space
Turkey Head Pattern
Brown yarn
Rnd 1: Magic circle, 11 DC, join to first DC (11 stitches)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, make 2 DC in each st, join and fasten off (22 stitches)
Sew the head to the turkey body.
Turkey Eyes Pattern
Make 2 using black yarn. Leave a long tail for sewing.
Ch 2, make 6 SC in the 2nd ch from hook, fasten off
Tie some black yarn scraps into small knots and attach to the center of each eye. Sew the eyes to the turkey’s head.
Turkey Beak Pattern
Yellow yarn
Row 1: Ch 4, SC in the 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch, turn (3 stitches)
Row 2: sc3tog and fasten off
Sew the beak to the turkey head.
Turkey Gobbler Pattern
Red yarn
Ch 4, 2 SC in the 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch, turn (6 stitches)
Sew the gobbler to the bottom side of the beak.
Turkey Feathers Pattern
Make 5 turkey tail feathers using red (2), yellow (1), and orange yarn (2).
Ch 11, TC in the 5th ch from hook, in next 6 chs work (TC, DC, DC, HDC, HDC, SC), ch-1 and turn to continue working in the backside of the chs, in next 7 chs work (SC, HDC, HDC, DC, DC, TC, TC), join and fasten off
Sew the feathers to the turkey.
Turkey Legs Pattern
Make 2 using brown yarn.
Ch 7, SC in the 2nd ch from hook, SC in next ch, SL ST in next ch, ch 3, SC in the 2nd ch from hook, SC in next ch, SL ST in next ch (same ch that you previously made a SL ST in), SC in 3 rem chs, fasten off.
Sew each turkey leg to the bottom of the turkey body.

Fasten off and then weave in the ends. Block if desired.
