Size Chart
Size | Crown | Head Circumference | Height |
Preemie | 3.25 inches | 10-12 inches | 4 inches |
Baby | 4.5 inches | 13-14 inches | 6 inches |
Child | 6 inches | 18-20 inches | 7.5 inches |
Adult | 7 inches | 20-22 inches | 8.5 inches |

Crochet Gauge
10 dc = 4 inches & 6 rows = 4 inches
To check your gauge, make a gauge swatch by crocheting the first three rounds of the baby size hat. Your swatch should measure 4.5 inches across the middle.
If your swatch is larger than 4.5 inches, your gauge is looser than mine. Try using a smaller crochet hook.
If your swatch is smaller than 4.5 inches, your gauge is tighter than mine. Try using a larger crochet hook.
Important Notes
- This pattern starts with a magic circle.
- The beginning of each round starts with a chain. This chain does not count as your first stitch.
- After each round, join your yarn to the first double crochet stitch with a slip stitch.
- Repeat instructions between asterisks (*) for the remainder of the round.
- You are crocheting in the round.
- Work this bulky yarn hat pattern crochet from the top down.
- You can make any size hat longer or shorter by repeating or leaving out the second to last row.

Pom Pom

Use your large pom pom maker.
Firmly and evenly wind your yarn around each set of arches.
After the first set of arches, close them and then wind your yarn around the second set.

Cut the yarn between each set of arches.

Use your scrap piece of yarn to tie the pom pom. I recommend you double/triple knot it.
Carefully open the arches.

Use a hot melt adhesive to place a dab of glue in the center of the pom pom. This will help prevent it from unraveling.

Fluff your pom pom and trim any long ends.
Use a tapestry needle to attach your pom pom to the top of your hat.
