New Cheshire Cat Costume
As you all know by now, I LOVE Halloween! A couple weeks ago, I shared my Cheshire Cat Costume with you guys. You all seemed to really like it so I thought it would be fun to share another Cheshire Cat inspired costume using the colors from the newer version of Alice In Wonderland. The free crochet pattern is below. Enjoy!
Project Materials
- I 5.5 mm crochet hook
- worsted weight yarn Turqua & Gray
- poly fil
- tapestry needles
- stitch markers
Finished Sizes
0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months and 18-24 months
Gauge
15 stitches and 11 rows = 4 inches
0-3 Months Size Instructions
I 5.5 mm crochet hook. Switch yarn colors every three rounds.
Chain 68, join in the round
Rnds 1– 13: ch 2, dc in each st, join [68]
You will now work one leg at a time.
Rnd 14 (left leg): ch 2, dc in 34, join to first dc [34]
Rnds 15– 30 (left leg): ch 2, dc in each st, join [34]
Rnd 31 (left leg): ch 1, sc in each st, join [34]
You will now work the right leg.
Rnd 14 (right leg): attach yarn, ch 2, dc in the 34 sts rem for the right leg, join [34]
Rnds 15– 30 (right leg): ch 2, dc in each st, join [34]
Rnd 31 (right leg): ch 1, sc in each st, join [34]

Turn pants inside out. Use a tapestry needle to stitch the crotch area closed.
Optional: Use a tapestry needle to weave yarn through the stitches in the waist area and tie into a bow in the front. This will allow the waist to be tightened.
3-6 Months Size Instructions
I 5.5 mm crochet hook. Switch yarn colors every three rounds.
Chain 72, join in the round
Rnds 1– 15 ch 2, dc in each st, join [72]
You will now work one leg at a time.
Rnd 16 (left leg): ch 2, dc in 36, join to first dc [36]
Rnds 17– 35 (left leg): ch 2, dc in each st, join [36]
Rnd 36 (left leg): ch 1, sc in each st, join [36]
You will now work the right leg.
Rnd 16 (right leg): attach yarn, ch 2, dc in the 36 sts rem for the right leg, join [36]
Rnds 17– 35 (right leg): ch 2, dc in each st, join [36]
Rnd 36 (right leg): ch 1, sc in each st, join [36]

6-12 Months Size Instructions

Stuff tail with Poly Fil.
Use a tapestry needle to sew the tail shut and attach to the back of the pants (I attached mine to the third row).
Hat Instructions
Follow the pattern for my other Cheshire Cat hat but make these changes:
– Use Turqua & Gray yarn and switch colors every three rounds
– Do not make the ear flaps. Instead, for your last round you will ch 1, sc in each st, join and fasten off.
– The ears are the same but I did not use the slicker brush to make the ears on the newer version look furry.
– Attach a piece of each color yarn to the tip of the ear. Tie and trim the yarn.
