Skeleton Throw Blanket

Skeleton Throw Blanket

SEPTEMBER 3, 2020

skeleton throw blanket crochet pattern

I know I say this a lot, but I am really excited about this spooky skeleton throw blanket. I love fall. I love Halloween. I love soft throw blankets. I love the colors white and gray together. So, as you can imagine, this creepy skull blanket project is particularly exciting for me. I've been wanting some Halloween home decor that isn't too colorful, dark or childlike. And I gotta say, I think I nailed it.

I used Lion Brand's Nap Time yarn in white and pale grey. If you can get your hands on this yarn for this project, I highly recommend that you do. I love the soft, squishy texture. The colors look amazing together, too. Just imagine yourself on a chilly fall night, snuggled up on the couch with your favorite Netflix show, pumpkin spice latte and chenille skeleton blanket. Sounds pretty nice, huh? I modeled this for you in case you're having a hard time picturing it.

    You can choose to follow the pixel graph or the written instruction (right-handed or left-handed).

    Crochet the pixel graph using the corner-to-corner (c2c) technique. Use the traditional method of making three double crochets for each square. I chained 5 to start each new row and I chained 2 at the beginning of each square.

    G= Gray

    W= White

    ch= chain
    ch(s)= chains
    sc= single crochet
    dc= double crochet
    hdc= half double crochet
    ws= wrong side
    rs= right side
    c2c= corner to corner
    rnd= round

      1. This pattern makes no sense!!! Doesn’t say how many chains to start, where do the sc, dc, hdc come in at. It just shows the rows and grey or white. Can you clear it up more would love to do this for my daughter. Thanks

          Hi Vicki. Each square is made of three dc. I chained 5 to start each new row and I chained 2 at the beginning of each square.
          If you’re following the written instructions, the letter and number tell you how many squares and what color. For example, G5 would be five gray squares (and again, each of those five squares is made up of three dc).

          Personally, I prefer to follow along to the pixel graph. I mark off each square as I go. I have a c2c video tutorial if that would be helpful: https://youtu.be/Oa0JDDb7cg0

          Hi Esper. Since the blanket is a rectangle, the first corner (width-wise) will be made while you are still increasing the length. Once you get to the second corner (length-wise), you will begin decreasing both the length and the width. I hope this helps! -Melissa
