Materials you’ll need
- H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook
- Worsted weight yarn (#4) in red, white, black, and yellow for Santa’s suit, belt, and trim.
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Bottle size
This wine bottle cover is designed to comfortably hold a standard 750 ml wine bottle.
Gauge
16 stitches and 10 rounds = 4 inches (10 cm)

Crochet abbreviations
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet stitch
- hdc = half double crochet stitch
- blo = back loop only
- ch / chs = chain / chains
- st / sts = stitch / stitches
- sl st = slip stitch
Pattern notes
- This wine bottle cover is worked in the round from the bottom up.
- The chain 2 at the start of each round does not count as a stitch.
- Join each round with a slip stitch to the first stitch of the round.

Color sequence
- Rounds 1-15: red
- Rounds 16-19: black
- Rounds 20-30: red
- Rounds 31 & 32: white
Bottle holder pattern
- Round 1: Magic circle, ch 2, 10 hdc. Join. (10 sts)
- Round 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)
- Round 3: Ch 2, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st; repeat around. Join. (30 sts)
- Round 4: Ch 2, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts; repeat around. Join. (40 sts)
- Round 5: Ch 2, hdc blo in each st around. Join. (40 sts)
- Rounds 6-32: Ch 2, hdc in each st around. Join. (40 sts)
Adding the strap
- Start the strap at the end of round 32.
- Row 1: Ch 1, sc in 6 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
- Rows 2-44: Ch 1, sc in 6 sts. Turn. (6 sts)
- Fasten off and use a yarn needle to attach the strap to the opposite side of the cover.
Adding the Santa buckle
- Use yellow yarn.
- The ch-2 spaces will form the corners of the buckle.
- Round 1: Ch 20 and join with a sl st to form a ring.
- Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in next 6 chs, ch 2, hdc in next 4 chs, ch 2, hdc in next 6 chs, ch 2, hdc in next 4 chs, ch 2, join with a sl st to the first hdc.
- Sew the buckle to the front of the bottle cover over the black belt. Make sure it is centered between the strap.
