When it is time to change colors, begin the final yarn over of the current stitch with the new color. Pull the new color through to finish the stitch, then continue crocheting with the new yarn.

Colorwork tip: Carry the green yarn across the row because it is used for all of the flower stems and leaves. Keep the carried yarn slightly loose inside the stitches so the blanket stays flat and does not pucker. For the individual tulip colors, use a separate ball or bobbin for each flower instead of carrying those colors across the entire row. This keeps the colorwork easier to manage and helps prevent long strands of unused yarn across the back.
