How corner-to-corner crochet works
Corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet is worked diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner using small blocks of chains and double crochet stitches. Each block is made with ch 3 and 3 dc.
Chain 6 to start a new row while increasing, and ch 3 to begin each additional block. Follow the graph or written color instructions to build your design, increasing and then decreasing to finish the panel.

After Row 49, fasten off and weave in the yarn ends.
Adding a border to each panel
Using tan yarn, work a single crochet border around each completed C2C panel.
Work 2 sc along the edge of each C2C block. At each corner, work (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc).
Continue around all four edges, then join with a sl st and fasten off.
Repeat for the second panel.
Assembling the cat bag
Place the two panels together with the wrong sides facing each other and the right sides facing outward.
Using tan yarn, single crochet through both layers along one side, across the bottom, and up the other side. Leave the top of the bag open.
Single crochet around the top opening to create a neat, finished edge. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Adding the bag strap
The strap is worked in rows using tan yarn. It is 6 stitches wide and will stretch with use.
At one side seam along the top opening of the bag, locate the 3 stitches closest to the seam on the front panel and the 3 stitches closest to the seam on the back panel.
Row 1: Join tan yarn in the first of these 6 stitches. Ch 1, sc in each of the 6 sts. Turn. (6 sc)
Rows 2–125: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (6 sc)
After Row 125, fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Position the loose end of the strap over the 6 stitches centered at the opposite side seam, with 3 stitches on each panel. Make sure the strap is not twisted, then sew it securely in place.
Weave in all remaining yarn ends.
