After both earflaps are complete, join yarn along the bottom edge of the hat.

Ch 1 and work sc evenly around the entire lower edge of the hat and around both earflaps. Join with a sl st to the first sc.

Add the braided ties

Cut equal-length strands of brown, dark brown, and tan yarn for each braid. Use the same number of strands for both earflaps so the finished braids match.

  1. Hold the strands together and fold them in half.
  2. Insert the folded loop through the bottom point of the earflap.
  3. Pull the yarn ends through the folded loop and tighten securely.
  4. Divide the strands into three equal sections.
  5. Braid the sections to the desired length.
  6. Tie a knot near the end and trim the yarn evenly.

Repeat for the second earflap.

Crochet the sloth face

Use tan yarn.
