Autumn crochet pumpkin pattern for beginners
I’m so excited to share my cozy Crochet Pumpkin pattern with you. This medium-sized, stuffed pumpkin is perfect for adding a touch of fall to your home decor. It’s super easy to make and looks great on a mantel, table, or anywhere you want to add some autumn vibes.
Crochet Project Materials Needed
- Crochet Hook Size: J-10 6 mm hook
- Yarn: Super bulky yarn #6 in blue and gray/brown. I used Bernat Baby Blanket in Baby Teal.
- Yarn needle: Use this to weave in your ends.
- Scissors: Use scissors to fasten off your yarn.
- Stitch markers: Use these to help keep track of your stitches.
- Fiber fill: To stuff your pumpkin.

Crochet Pumpkin Pattern Information

Finished Size
Rectangle (before assembly) measures 8.5 inches x 21 inches.
Finished pumpkin measures 5.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide.

Gauge
6 stitches = 2 inches
Just under 5 rows = 2 inches
Crochet Terms
- sc = single crochet
- blo = back loop only
- ch/chs = chain/chains
- st/sts = stitch/stitches
- sl st = slip stitch
- rem = remaining
Pattern Notes
- You will first crochet a flat rectangle and then sew the ends together.
- You are crocheting in the back loops only (blo).
- The beginning chain does not count as a stitch.

Crochet Pumpkin Pattern Instructions
Row 1: Ch 31, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each rem ch, turn (30 stitches)
Rows 2 -50: Ch 1, sc blo in each st, turn (30 stitches)
Assembling the Crochet Pumpkin Pattern
- Sew the two ends of the rectangle together.
- Turn the tube inside out so that the seam is on the inside.
- Sew one end of the tube closed by weaving the yarn back and forth around the opening.
- Gently pull on the yarn to close the opening and fasten off.
- Stuff the pumpkin with fiber fill creating a pumpkin shape.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 on the other end.
Vines for the Crochet Pumpkin Pattern
Row 1: Ch 11, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch, fasten off (20 stitches)
Attach your vines to the top of the pumpkin.
Finishing the Crochet Pumpkin Pattern
Weave in all of your ends.
