crochet party hat

2020 sure has been a crazy year. I think most people are ready for it to be over! I wanted to design a fun & unique pointy Party Hat for you guys to ring in the New Year.

This hat is perfect to use as a New Years Eve hat. And you can customize to your taste! If you don’t want to make the corner to corner *c2c) graph, just skip it! Change the colors of the pom pom or curls, or skip, add more! Have fun with it.

The best part it, it’s an easy pattern which makes it great for beginners. It works up quickly AND, I will update the corner to corner graph each year for the next year. So be sure to bookmark this page!

I love when you guys share pictures and tag me. It’s exciting to see you guys crocheting my designs. Tag me on Instagram (lovable_loops) or Facebook to share your pictures with me! Happy New Year!

Use your large pom pom maker and white yarn.

Firmly and evenly wind your yarn around each set of arches. After the first set of arches, close them and then wind your yarn around the second set.

Cut the yarn between each set of arches.

Use your scrap piece of yarn to tie the pom pom. I recommend you double/triple knot it.

Carefully open the arches.

Use a hot melt adhesive to place a dab of glue in the center of the pom pom. This will help prevent it from unraveling.

  • Crochet the pixel graph using the corner-to-corner (c2c) technique. Use the traditional method of making three double crochets for each square.
  • Chain 6 to start each new row and chain 3 at the beginning of each square.
