*pattern is the same for both sides BUT when you get to row 22 and sc around the shape, go in the opposite direction so that the right side will be facing you when you sew it onto the hat.


Cut five 30” strands of the brown, yellowish gold & white yarns (total= 15 strands). Holding all of the strands, fold in half and pass the folded loop through the bottom of the ear flap (use hook to help). Pass the strand ends through the loop and pull tight to form a knot (now you have 30 strands). Divide the strands into three sections (10 strands in each) and braid. Repeat for 2nd braid.
