Crochet the sleeve trim
Using the I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook and blue yarn, join yarn at the back of one armhole.
Ch 2. Work 2 dc in each available st around the armhole. Along the bottom of the armhole, work 2 dc in each space between the stitches.
Join with a sl st to the first dc and fasten off.
Repeat for the second armhole.
Crochet the apron
Using the I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook and white yarn, locate the front of the dress at the point where the white bodice meets the blue skirt.
The apron is worked across the front half of the dress. Working into the spaces between the dc stitches along the white-and-blue color-change line, join white yarn at the left edge of the front.
0–3 months – Row 1: Ch 2, work 30 dc evenly across the front of the dress. Turn. (30 sts)
3–6 months – Row 1: Ch 2, work 32 dc evenly across the front of the dress. Turn. (32 sts)
6–12 months – Row 1: Ch 2, work 34 dc evenly across the front of the dress. Turn. (34 sts)

Crochet the red chevron stripe
Using the I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook and red yarn:
0–3 months: Ch 102.
3–6 and 6–12 months: Ch 112.
12–18 and 18–24 months: Ch 122.
Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in next 2 chs.
*Work 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 3 chs, dc3tog over next 3 chs, dc in next 3 chs; repeat from * until 7 chs remain.
Work 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 3 chs, then dc3tog over the final 3 chs.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Wrap the chevron stripe around the lower skirt, directly above the scalloped hem, with the ends meeting at the back of the dress. Adjust the stripe so the chevrons sit evenly around the skirt, then pin it in place.
Using the long yarn tail and additional red yarn as needed, sew the chevron stripe securely to the dress. Weave in all remaining ends.
