Raggedy Ann Costume

Raggedy Ann, a rag doll with red yarn for hair, is a character that was created in 1915 and appeared in a series of books for young children.  I thought it would be fun to design a costume inspired by the famous rag doll. Pattern is written for sizes 0/3 months – 18/24 months. My Raggedy Ann Wig pattern goes up to adult size. Pattern for the legwarmers is here

August 23, 2018: We are in Wildwood, NJ for our family vacation this week and Ashley was super excited to spot a Raggedy Ann doll on the Boardwalk! You can get your own Raggedy Ann doll here!

Raggedy Ann Wig Pattern

Leg Warmers Pattern

Finished Sizes

0/3, 3/6, 6/12, 12/18 & 18/24 months

Gauge

15 dc stitches and 11 rows = 4 inches

Important Notes

Use an I 5.5 mm crochet hook & begin with the blue yarn.

Instructions between two asterisks should be repeated for the remainder of the round.

Your first dc always goes in the same st where you joined and made your ch 2.

Pictures to help show rounds 1-5 are from my unicorn dress so you can ignore the color changes.

***Be mindful where you place your next dc after making the v-stitches. If your stitch count is off (low), you likely skipped over that next st you were supposed to dc into.***

Sleeves

Use an I 5.5 mm crochet hook & blue yarn.

Attach yarn (I’d attach in the back so you don’t see the join seam), ch 2 and make 2 dc in each st and in between the stitches in the bottom of the armhole, join and fasten off.

Apron

Use an I 5.5 mm crochet hook & white yarn.

Attach white yarn to the left side of the dress. You are going to be working between the stitches where the white and blue rounds of yarn meet.

Row 1: ch 2, dc across to the other side of the dress, turn

Row 2: ch 2, dc in each st, turn

0/3 months size

Rows 3-13: ch 2, dc in each st, turn

3/6 months size

Rows 3-14: ch 2, dc in each st, turn

6/12 months size

Rows 3-18: ch 2, dc in each st, turn

12/18 months size

Rows 3-22: ch 2, dc in each st, turn

18/24 months size

Rows 3-23: ch 2, dc in each st, turn

After your last row, finish off. Attach yarn to your first stitch in the first row and sc around the entire apron.

Chevron Stripe

Use an I 5.5 mm crochet hook & red yarn.

0/3 months size

chain 102, dc in third ch from the hook, dc in next 2 sts, *3 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, dc3tog, dc in the next 3 sts *
