Winter Placemat & Coaster Set
Last week I shared my Fall Placemat and Coaster Set. I loved it so much that I wanted to design a winter themed version. What do ya think? I was a little worried about the size of the tree on the coaster based on the pixel graph but I’m really happy with how it turned out. Thankfully, the height of the half double crochet stitches stretched it up so it looks to scale. As mentioned in last weeks post, this pattern can be used as a placemat or a pillow cover. It’s a two for one pattern!

Placemat measures 18.5 inches wide and 12.5 inches long.
Coaster measures 5 inches wide and 4.5 inches long.
- crochet hooks: H 5mm
- yarn: worsted weight (#4). I used Red Heart Super Saver in soft white, cherry red, medium thyme and cafe latte
- tapestry needle
- locking stitch markers
- scissors
- blocking boards
- blocking pins
8 hdc= 2 inches
7 rows= 2 inches
hdc= half double crochet
sc= single crochet
ch= chain
ch(s)= chains
st= stitch
st(s)= stitches
rem= remaining
- When you are changing colors, use the new color to do the final pull through of the stitch that is the old color.
- Pattern is worked back and forth in rows from the bottom up.
- You can print and follow the pixel graph or follow the written instructions.
- Chain 2 at the beginning of each row.
- The letters (w, o, g) and numbers tell you how many and what color of half double crochet (hdc) to make. For example: W34, G7, W29 would be 34 white hdc, 7 green hdc, 29 white hdc

Placemat Border
Don’t fasten off. You are going to continue crocheting around the border of the placemat. Ch 2, hdc in the side of each row, in each of the hdc from the last row and in-between the stitches from row 1. In each corner you will hdc-ch 2-hdc, join with a slip stitch to the first hdc.
