Crochet placemats make a lovely gift for friends or family, or a great project to sell at craft fairs. They’re perfect for everyday use or special occasions and look fantastic on any dining room table or round table. This farmhouse placemat pattern is also versatile for a range of home decor items.

Whether you’re using them as dinner table mats for your kitchen or a festive touch for the dining table, these placemats are a great way to add warmth and personality to your space. The classic design works well with any aesthetic or color scheme, making them a thoughtful, handmade addition to any table.

Crochet Placemat Pattern Information

One of the best ideas with this diy project is that you can easily customize it! Change up the color scheme by using different colors for the truck on each placemat.

A set of four with each truck in a unique color adds a fun twist to your table setting. Or, you can make multiple rectangle placemats and stitch them together to create a table runner for a longer, festive look.

With basic stitches and a quick finish, this farmhouse placemat is a versatile home decor item that adds charm to any kitchen or dining room table.

Skill Level

Advanced beginner. Projects may include basic crochet stitches, color work, and/or shaping.

Crochet Terms

  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • ch/chs = chain/chains
  • st/sts = stitch/stitches
  • sl st = slip stitch

Pattern Notes

  • When you are changing colors, use the new color to do the final pull through of the stitch that is the old color.
  • The easy pattern is worked in rows of half double crochet stitches from the bottom up.
  • You can print and follow the pixel graph/chart or follow the written pattern.
  • The starting chains for the placemat and coaster are 72 and 18.
  • Chain 2 at the beginning of each row.
  • The letters (W, R, G, B) and numbers show how many half double crochets (hdc) to make in each color. For example, “W34, G7, W29” means 34 white hdc, 7 green hdc, and 29 white hdc.
  • The pattern is written in US terms.
