Crochet Methods
Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc)
A front post double crochet is a type of stitch in crocheting. You don’t work into the top loops of the stitch like you normally would. Instead, you will work around the post (the vertical part) of the stitch from the front side. This creates a raised effect on the front side of the fabric.

Back Loop Only (blo)
Make the stitch in the back loop only of the next stitch.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the best yarn for crocheting hats?
The best yarn for crochet hats is a soft, warm, and durable yarn. Acrylic, wool, and cotton yarns are great options.
Acrylic is inexpensive and easy to care for, while wool provides warmth and durability. Cotton is lightweight and breathable. The choice will depend on the desired style, warmth, and personal preference.
What is the recommended method for finishing off a crochet hat to prevent unraveling?
To prevent unraveling, weave in the ends of the yarn using a tapestry needle. Thread the needle with the yarn tail, then weave it through several stitches in the hat. Trim any excess yarn. You can also add a knot to the end of the tail before weaving it in for extra security.
What is the proper way to measure head circumference for a hat?
To measure head circumference for a crochet hat, use a flexible tape measure and wrap it around the head. It should go above the ears and eyebrows, and across the widest part of the back of the head. Make sure the tape measure is snug but not too tight or too loose. Record the measurement and use it to determine hat size.
