Materials

Gauge

Please check your gauge before you begin. You may need to use a larger or smaller hook.

10 hdc = 3 inches

6 rows = 2 inches

Abbreviations

  • dc= double crochet
  • hdc= half double crochet
  • sc= single crochet
  • ch= chain
  • ch(s)= chains
  • st= stitch
  • st(s)= stitches
  • sl st= slip stitch
  • rnd= round
  • rem= remaining
  • dc2tog= double crochet 2 stitches together

Pattern Notes

  • When you are changing colors, use the new color to do the final pull through of the stitch that is the old color.
  • Pattern is worked back and forth in rows of half double crochet (hdc) from the bottom up.
  • You can print and follow the pixel graph or follow the written instructions.
  • Chain 2 at the beginning of each row.

Weave in all of your ends.

Sew the two ends together.

Bottom

Instructions between two asterisks (*) should be repeated for the remainder of the round.

Rnd 1: magic ring, ch 2, 9 hdc, join with sl st in top of first hdc [9 ]

Rnd 2: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each rem st, join [18]

Rnd 3: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st, hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st*, join [27]

Rnd 4: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st, hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts*, join [36]

Fasten off leaving a long tail. Sew to the bottom of your bottle cover. Make sure the hearts are not upside down. The bottle cover and bottom both have 36 stitches.

Strap

Use your locking stitch markers to mark the 7th, 12th, 25th and 30th stitches. You’ll have two on each side of the cover. Notice that there are 4 stitches between the markers.

Join your yarn to the first of the four stitches on one side.

Row 1: ch 1, sc in each st, turn [4]

Rows 2- 40: ch 1, sc in each st, turn [4]

Sew the 40th row to the 4 stitches on the other side of the cover. Make sure the strap isn’t twisted.
