Crochet Project Materials Needed
- Crochet Hook Size: I-9 5.5 mm crochet hook or hook needed for gauge
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn #4 in white, tan, and three shades of red. I used Red Heart Super Saver in cherry red, burgundy, claret, white, and aran.
- Yarn needle: Use this to weave in your ends.
- Scissors: Use scissors to fasten off your yarn.
- Stitch marker(s): Optional. Use these to help keep track of your stitches.

Finished Size
This festive crochet wine tote will fit a standard 750 ml size bottle of wine. It measures 11 inches tall (excluding the straps).
Each granny square measures 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches.
Gauge
7 stitches & 5 rounds = 2 inches

- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet stitches
- ps = puff stitch
- bo = bobble stitch
- ch/chs = chain stitch/chains

Crochet Pattern Notes
- The bobble stitches will pop out on the “wrong side”. Just pop them to the “right side”.
- Join using the next yarn color.

- YO, insert hook in next stitch & pull up a loop (3 loops on hook)
- YO, insert hook in same stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on hook)
- YO, insert hook in same stitch and pull up a loop (7 loops on hook)
- YO and pull through all 7 loops.
Bobble stitch (bo):
- YO, insert hook in next stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook)
- YO, insert hook in same stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook)

Granny Square Color Sequence
Follow the granny square instructions below for both squares. For the first granny square, use shades of red in darkest to lightest order:
- Round 1: Darkest red (Red Heart- claret)
- Round 2: Medium red (Red Heart- burgundy)
- Round 3: Lightest red (Red Heart- cherry red)
For the second granny square, reverse the order and use shades of red in lightest to darkest order:
- Round 1: Lightest red (Red Heart- cherry red)
- Round 2: Medium red (Red Heart- Burgundy)
- Round 3: Darkest red (Red Heart- claret)
Crochet Wine Bag Pattern Instructions
Make 2. See special stitches.
Round 1: (color A) magic ring, make 11 dc, join (11 stitches)
Round 2: (color B) ch 2, (ps, ch 1) around, join (11 ps and 11 ch-1)
Round 3: (color C) ch 2, [bo, sc in next ch-1 sp] around, join (11 bo & 11 sc)
Round 4: (tan) ch 2, 2 dc in each st, join (44 dc)
Round 5: (white) ch 2, [(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), dc in next 10 sts] around, join (56 dc)
Joining the Granny Squares
Now you will sew the two granny squares together. Lay the granny squares so the edges you want to join are lined up.
Starting at one corner and working through the front loops only, stitch the squares together along two sides to form a tube shape.
Top & Bottom of the Crochet Wine Bag Pattern
Now you will add rounds of double crochet stitches to the top and bottom of the granny squares.
There are 14 stitches and 2 corners along the top/bottom of each granny square. 16 x 2 = 32
Round 1: Ch 3, dc in each st and in each corner space, join (32 stitches)
Top of the Bag
Rounds 2-8: Repeat round 1
Bottom of the Bag
Rounds 2-9: Repeat round 1, do not fasten off. Continue to make the base of the bag.
Base for the Crochet Wine Bag Pattern
Round 10: Ch 3, dc2tog working in the blo, join (16 stitches)
Round 11: Ch 3, dc2tog, join (8 stitches)
Sew the remaining stitches together.
Straps for the Crochet Wine Bag Pattern
Use stitch markers to mark the 8 middle stitches on the front and back of the bag. You won’t crochet into these stitches. Instead, skip them to leave space for the straps.
Join the yarn to the first stitch after one of the middle sections.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc in 8 sts, chain 16 and skip over 8 sts, sc in next 8 sts, chain 16 and skip over 8 sts, join (16 stitches & 2 chains of 16)
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in 8 sts, make 16 dc around the ch-sp, dc in 8 sts, make 16 dc around the ch-sp, join (48 stitches)

Weave in all of the yarn tails.
