Magical Unicorn Characters Crochet Blanket Pattern
I am so excited to share that my Unicorn Character Afghan is finally done! The unicorn is such a terrific whimsical creature. However, it’s even more magical when you combine the idea of a unicorn with other animals, which is what I’ve done in this unicorn crochet blanket pattern.
Animals in the Unicorn Crochet Blanket Pattern
There are four different animals in the unicorn crochet blanket pattern. First, of curse, there is the unicorn itself. That needs no explanation. However, I’ve also gone ahead and used a cat, a puppy, and a llama as inspiration for new unicorn breeds. I hope you love them as much as I do.
This Corner-to-Corner Crochet Blanket Is So Fun To Make
I had so much fun with the entire process – from designing the pixel graphs to crocheting and watching each graph look more and more like the unicorn character. I loved the whole process so much that I immediately started thinking about holiday corner to corner crochet blankets, like the ones for my C2C Crochet Christmas Blanket.
I really enjoy working with corner to corner crochet. You can work off of graphs to create so many different beautiful images. I especially love creating characters that come to life, as you can see. I try to give them each their own personality, adding glasses or clothing or accessories to express their style.
34.5 inches by 46 inches
6 squares of 3 dc= 4 inches
- You can choose to follow the pixel graph or the written instruction (right-handed or left-handed).
- Crochet the pixel graph using the corner-to-corner (c2c) technique. Use the traditional method of making three double crochets for each square. I chained 6 to start each new row and I chained 3 at the beginning of each square.
- Each unicorn character is a pixel graph that is 25×34 pixels. I used the C2C technique. I started in the bottom right corner. I used the traditional method of DC’s and chain 3’s.

- H/5mm crochet hook.
- Worsted weight (#4) yarn. I used Red Heart Super Saver (#4 worsted weight yarn) in Cafe Latte, Buff, Cream, White, Black, Petal Pink, Pale Plum, Turqua, Minty, Lemon & Grey Heather
- Blocking boards (optional)
All of the Unicorn Character pixel graphs are available for free download. The written pattern is also available. Just click on the picture below to go to the pattern.
Each pixel graph pattern includes instructions on how to crochet a border around the graph. As you can see, I choose to make that border in purple. You can choose any color! I also think white would look good. I have a video tutorial to help you, if needed.
Once each section is complete, you will want to sew them together. I used the whip stitch method to stitch together the front loops on the right side and the back loops on the wrong side.
Once your graphgan sections are sewn together, you’ll want to add a border. Since I already had a purple border around each section, I opted to use rounds of pink, yellow, green & blue.
rnd 1 (pink): in each corner, I made 2dc in each of the 4 corner dcs. Dc once in each st on the sides
rnd 2 (yellow): in the four sts in the corners I did the following: 2dc, dc, 2dc, dc. Dc once in each st on the sides.
rnd 3 (green): in the four sts in the corners I did the following: 2dc, dc, 2dc, dc. Dc once in each st on the sides.
rnd 4 (blue): in the four sts in the corners I did the following: 2dc, dc, 2dc, dc. Dc once in each st on the sides.
