Crochet dog blanket pattern (C2C)

Want a crochet blanket that’s cozy and totally customizable for dog lovers? This free crochet dog blanket pattern uses the corner-to-corner crochet (C2C) method and is made from six separate C2C dog panels (squares) that you sew together into one big, snuggly blanket.

You can follow the graphs or the written color-change instructions for each dog panel. The finished blanket measures about 45” x 67” (114 cm x 170 cm). It’s an advanced beginner project (mostly because of the color changes), but the stitches themselves stay simple—just chains and double crochet stitches worked in C2C blocks.

And if you want even more options, I also designed a husky panel in the exact same size, so you can swap it in for any one of the six dogs and make the blanket your way.

What is corner-to-corner crochet (C2C)?

Corner-to-corner crochet (also called C2C) is a technique where you crochet diagonally instead of in rows. The project is built using small C2C blocks made of chains and double crochet stitches, starting in one corner and growing row by row until you reach the widest point, then decreasing to finish the opposite corner.

C2C is especially popular for crochet blankets because it works up quickly and makes color changes easy—perfect for fun designs like this dog blanket made from individual C2C panels.

• Yarn: Worsted weight (#4). I used Red Heart Super Saver.
