Skill Level

Beginner. This crochet ornament pattern uses basic stitches in basic form and in simple repeats in rounds.

Crochet Project Materials Needed

Crochet Hook Size: G-6 4 mm
Yarn: Worsted weight #4 in gray, white, and ornament color(s).
Yarn needle: Use this to weave in your ends.
Scissors: Use scissors to fasten off your yarn.

Crochet Christmas Ornaments Pattern Notes

The pattern starts with a magic circle.
The crochet ornaments are worked in the round.
Join each round with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round.
Repeat instructions between the asterisks (*) for the rest of the round.
The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as your first stitch.

Rnd 1: Magic circle, ch 2, 9 hdc, join (9 stitches)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each st, join (18 stitches)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, * 2 hdc, hdc in next st*, join (27 stitches)

Rnd 4: Ch 2, * 2 hdc, hdc in next 2 sts*, join (36 stitches)

Rnd 5: Ch 2, * 2 hdc, hdc in next 3 sts*, join (45 stitches)

Ornament Cap Pattern

Join yarn to top of ornament.

Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in 5 sts, turn (5 stitches)

Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in each st, fasten off leaving a long tail (5 stitches)

Ornament Loop Instructions

Attach the other end of the yarn tail from the ornament cap to the opposite side of the cap. Tie off and weave in your ends.

Ornament Sparkle Instructions

Use white yarn to add a short “sparkle” line to the ornament.
